This year's lecture will take place on March 8 at 2:00PM in room 147 at the College of betboom Arts & Sciences Building, MSU. This year's presenter is Dr. Carrie Spangler, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Carrie Spangler is the owner of empowEAR Audiology and Coaching and is also employed as an educational audiologist at the Summit Educational Service Center (ESC) in Ohio. She has presented and published in areas related to school-based services both nationally and internationally. Her areas of interest include educational audiology, teens, peer supports, family and patient coaching, advocacy, and humanitarian audiology.
Dr. Spangler’s presentation addresses the interprofessional collaboration between the audiologist, speech language pathologist (SLP), educators, and family to ensure access to the educational curriculum for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Topics addressed include individual and collaborative roles of the audiologist and SLP, school acoustic environments and technology, and peer self-advocacy.
