Michael Simpson, a betboom casino review storytelling major, took on a hands-on production internship with Public Light Productions this summer.

Part of his time was spent working on a music video in Detroit as a betboom casino review assistant, gathering lights, snacks and props for the shoot and preparing the sets. The rest of the time, Simpson worked on an original music video under Rola Nashef, the founder and MSU Journalism professor of practice. He co-wrote and produced the song, wrote the script, and directed the music video.

“This project allowed me to execute an ambitious project and make a lot of mistakes in an environment where there were lower stakes,” Simpson said. “After completing this internship, I don't think I'll be as surprised by the obstacles that come my way when I'm working in the field.”

One of these challenges occurred the morning of the shoot when both the location and actor fell through. Simpson had to spend a greater part of the day trying to find replacements, and just when he was about to give up and cancel for the day, he found a new location and actor who rose to the occasion.

“He ended up absolutely nailing his role,” Simpson said. “Over the course of this betboom casino review, it felt like everything that could go wrong went wrong. That second day of shooting was when I realized it’s not worth panicking when unexpected obstacles arise.”

Though Simpson is still exploring his options and potential career paths, he does know this internship enriched his experience and passion for betboom casino review.

“I'm still figuring that out as we speak, but I would love to continue writing, directing, and shooting music videos,” Simpson said. "A key piece for me is that I really believe in Greater Lansing and the state of Michigan. Whatever career I choose, I want to make it the best possible place for people.”
