Bio
Winson Peng holds a Ph.D. from the City University of Hong Kong and currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Communication at Michigan State University (MSU). He assumed the position of associate professor with tenure in 2016 when he joined the Communication Department. Before joining MSU, he held the role of Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from 2013 to 2016 and at Macau University of Science and Technology in Macau from 2009 to 2013.
Dr. Peng's current research betboom teaminterest includes computational social science, health communication, audience analysis, and political communication. His research outputs appeared in top-ranked journals of communication science, information science, public health, and computer science.
Currently, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Human Communication Research and a Guest Co-Editor of a special issue on Time in Communication Research and Theories at the Journal of Communication.
Previously, he was the Associate Editor of the Journal of Communication (2022 - 2024) and co-edited two special issues on computational communication research published by Communication Methods and Measures (van Atteveldt & Peng, 2018) and the Asian Journal of Communication (Peng et al., 2019), respectively. He was the co-founder and inaugural chair (2016-2017) of the Computational Methods Division at the International Communication Association.
